Field Close
When the new owners moved into Field Close, the garden was in need of a complete overhaul having been left for several years without maintenance. The once fine garden had been overwhelmed by weeds in the time that it had been neglected. The large collection of rhododendrons and azaleas had been allowed to grow unchecked, and required extensive pruning. Field Close is a garden on several levels, each room with its own character and outlook, backing onto an amphitheatre of fields and thence onto the fells beyond, and its restoration would bring it back to life to be enjoyed by the new owners.
The Solution
It was necessary to clear all the weeds and undergrowth, and the overgrown shrubs needed to be trimmed back and their crowns lifted to allow airflow and to reveal the structure of their trunks. The lawn required renovation having been overhung with the foliage of overgrown shrubs, and the edges needed to be neatened to redefine the shape of the lawn and beds.
The Outcome
The structure of the garden, and of its plants, is restored to its former glory. Each shrub now has its own identity and there is space between plants allowing room for fresh new growth. The beds are clear and smart, and the sweeping edges of the lawn are neatly defined. Lakeland Gardens has sensitively brought the garden back from untended overgrowth to a space that is tidy, healthy and thriving.
“Thank you for bring our garden back to life!”
