Here at Lakeland Gardens Nursery, we aim to provide everything you could need to create your dream garden. We travel across Europe and the UK to find exciting and unusual plants that we know will thrive in the UK. We specialise in more mature trees that will create instant impact in your garden from the word go. And we look for unusual varieties of well-known plants, to give that extra wow factor.
Screaming for screening…
Many of our customers are searching for the perfect plant to screen them from prying eyes, or block out an unsightly building. We have a large selection of options to offer, ranging from evergreen hedging, to screening frames of different sizes, and pleached trees that act as a stylish raised up hedge.
As well as a wide array of screening options, we also stock a variety of interesting architectural plants. Our rooftop trees are a fabulous alternative to a parasol, and can add a touch of glamour to your patio. Our box head trees add a contemporary edge to a modern garden. Our tall, thin Italian cypress trees evoke the sultry Tuscan countryside and can work really well in a small space.
If the Tuscan or Mediterranean look is what you’re going for, we have a wide selection of different sized olive, cypress, and pine trees. Or, if the look you’re aiming for is more Tuvalu than Tuscany, then our range of palm trees and tropical plants will likely hit the spot. And don’t be scared off by their exotic appearance. All the plants in the nursery will thrive in our climate; the Trachycarpus for example is hardy down to as low as –18°C.
If you are looking for a tree that will stand out from the crowd, our cloud pruned pines and junipers provide a distinctive and striking statement. As well as the cloud pruned trees, we also have a selection of parachute trained trees, standard trees, pompom trees and multi-stem trees. If you’d like to know more about these different tree shapes, take a look at our blog post on the variety of pruning styles that we offer.
Not just plants on offer…
For further opportunities to create a head-turning garden, we offer a small selection of Simon Probyn sculptures, notable for their naturalistic, but contemporary style. Moon gates, flame spirals, and flowing waves of steel.
In addition to the sculptures of steel, our topiary offers sculptural inspiration in the form of evergreen spirals, cones, lollipops, and balls of different sizes.
As well as the larger, and more structural plants, we also stock a range of grasses and herbaceous perennials, which are chosen to complement our larger items. Smaller topiary balls, feathery grasses, curly heuchera, climbing clematis, burgeoning peony to name a few; all the elements of a stylish contemporary border.
You are most welcome to come and take a stroll around our beautiful nursery, and feel free to ask us any questions about the plants and how to care for them. We are open from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 5pm, and will be happy to help you. We look forward to seeing you in the coming year.
